Requisites for civil marriages

Bride and Groom

Complete name, place and date of birth, age, profession, citizenship, nationality, number and copy of the passport, address, marital status, name of the parents and their nationality. The birth certificate and the marital status have to be authenticated by the Consul of Costa Rica. If the bride or the groom is widowed or divorced, the name of the former spouse should be included and the place and date of the divorce has to be indicated.

Legal witnesses

Two witnesses with the following information are required: complete name, marital status, profession, nationality, number of passport and place of residence. Note: the entry of the marriage in the Civil Registry takes approximately 2 months. The lawyer will send you the certificate authenticated by the consulate of your country of origin by registered mail.
